Risk Assessment and Risk Register Practitioner Workshop

Practitioner2 daysRisk Management

Programme overview

A hands-on workshop for people who have to run risk assessments and keep a register alive. Day one covers technique selection and facilitation. Day two is spent building, scoring and aggregating a real register. Suited to organisations whose register has become a compliance artefact nobody reads.

Who should attend

Risk officers and analysts, risk champions and departmental risk coordinators, internal auditors, project and operations managers, quality and SHEQ officers.

Sectors

All sectors. Particularly useful for public enterprises preparing risk submissions and for institutions responding to regulator or auditor findings on risk registers.

Modules

  1. Choosing the right technique: bow tie, HAZOP, scenario analysis, FMEA, Delphi, structured what if
  2. Facilitation skills: running a risk workshop with a hostile or disengaged management team
  3. Writing a risk properly: cause, event, consequence, and why 'staff shortage' is not a risk
  4. Calibrating likelihood and impact scales to your organisation's actual financial scale
  5. Control identification and effectiveness rating: design versus operating effectiveness
  6. Inherent, current and residual risk, and how to avoid the residual risk fiction
  7. Aggregating divisional registers to an enterprise view without losing meaning
  8. Keeping the register alive: review cycles, ownership, version control, system options
  9. Practical build: delegates construct a full register for a case organisation and their own
  10. Use of technology including AI
